4 Signs it’s Time to Replace your Boiler

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Enercare Central Aire is here with a few signals to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler. 

Age 

If your condensing boiler has annual maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade. 

Bills 

If your energy bills are going up or you’re having to service your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler. 

Discoloration 

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Enercare Central Aire or your gas company immediately. 

Comfort 

If some of the areas in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you might need to look into upgrade alternatives.
