Frozen Pipes

To help keep this plumbing problem from happening to you, leave a faucet a little open to make sure the water can constantly flow through. If you do realize you have a frozen pipe, turn off the main water supply to keep the pipe from rupturing. Broken Water Line

To prevent this problem, make sure your garden hoses are drained and disconnected before the freezing temperatures arrive. 

Failing Hot Water Systems 

If your hot water heater is not functioning as well as expected, verify that the temperature is set high enough. If you have a gas water heater, confirm the pilot light is still lit.
