4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Should you replace your boiler? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple indicators to look for when determining whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives standard maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to maintain your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning or your gas company straightaway.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you might need to look into upgrade options.
